Yozmit is a singer, performance artist and costume designer who incorporates sound/movement/visual/spiritual aspect of the human body to research and reveal the unknown mysteries of her universe.
He started his professional career as a fashion designer but rediscovered himself as a performance artist through the practice of traditional Korean music ( pansori, gayageum byungchang), performance art, corporeal mime (etienne decroux technique), modern dance, yoga and meditation.
She studied and performed with Rachel Rosenthal Company, Thomas Leabhart's corporeal mime group 'MICE',Laurie Cameron and Company, Seo HoonJung ( lineage of korean intangible cultural asset of Pansori 'Yi ll-joo), Takuya Muramatsu from Dairakudakan, Hou Ying from 'Shen Wei Dance Arts' and often performs with Nicholas Leichter Dance.She is also a scholarship recipient of the American Dance Festival(ADF).
Yozmit is currently based in New York and Los Angeles, working on his solo album and abstract performance theater series, where he weaves ritualistic performance art and cabaret, burlesque,pop culture, high fashion, gender and identity, mythology and shamanism onto a single canvas.
Yozmit performs at The Box, NYC and her work is also shown in Redcat (Roy and Edna Disney/Cal Arts Theater),Highways, Joyce Soho, Movement Research Festival at Judson church, Dixon Place, St. Marks church, Art Basel,Joe's Pub, Dunhills, Santos Party House, Littlefields, Galapagos Art Space, Webster Hall , Vandam by Susanne bartsch/Kenny Kenny and other clubs in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Seoul and Miami.
In addition to his work as an artist, he is also involved in HIV/AIDS prevention work and transgender civil rights work.
