(Original idea done in Ableton Live; Finished version done in Reason V7.1.)
26 July, 2014:
Ah, finally another one with some potential!
This one started out in Ableton Live 9, with me plugging my JAXA wind tunnel reverb recording into the Max for Live Convolution reverb, and noodling around with a piano sound. Inspiration hit me, and it became the basis for this version, made in Reason. (No, no convolution in this one...) It uses a couple of patches from P-Heads' ElectroMechanical ReFill, as well as the Reason Electric Bass ReFill.
Comments are welcomed while I try to work out what I need to do with this one...
27 JULY: New mix - cleaned up the bass line a bit, added flanger to backing vox in the chorus, and fiddled with the mix...
28 JULY: New mix and extra chorus at end. Cleaned up parts some more, and added twinkly delay piano and heartbeat... and trombone...
Late 28 JULY: Another mix, plus lots of small edits and tweaks; revised vocal (and lyric) slightly; added electronic cymbals; fiddled with mastering tools... Don't really know what I'm doing...
29 JULY: Cut back on that reverb. wow. Also cleaned up a bit more, and added background lead guitar in places.
31 JULY: More tweaking... tightened the timing on the main clav line, switched up the drums a bit, changed the processing on the heartbeat, raised the background lead guitar a little, raised the tinkly piano some too...
01 AUGUST: Took a long lunch and did some more to this one... Re-balanced the mix, did some surgical EQing to help things fit, and added the Rat Race sample. Hope you enjoy!
02 AUGUST (very early in the wee hours): More tweaking of balance, EQ, and reverb, but the big change is I ran the vocals through the Neptune pitch corrector, and I think it made a huge difference. Never did this before at this level, and the thing just amazes me. I also have decided the track is no longer in rough demo form... Let's call it "version 1"...
02 AUGUST (very late): Somehow the version I posted last night (early this morning) wasn't the right one, and I didn't notice until now.
08NOV2015: Replaced the unauthorized sample with a recording of me quoting it. Like it better now anyway.
26FEB2017: slightly remixed. Mastered through LANDR.

113 BPM 3/4 time
When we come here
There's no turning back
There is a good chance that
We'll find what we lack
It may not be easy
It might take some time
But there'll come a day
When it will be fine
Take what you need
But don't waste what you've got
This is your moment
To find what you've sought
You need to be humble
There's a lesson to learn
It isn't just right
But it's what we deserve
By taking your time
I don't know the crime
But things will be fine
And I'll find out the things I should know
What I should know
What I should know
Don't want to cry
Don't need to hide
What helps you get by
Don't try to hide
What you're feeling inside
Where is the fire?
The nights of delight?
I wonder what happened?
Can we make it right?
"...Ahh, Hitler had it comin'! What goes around, comes around!"
