Alex Graham : Live from BPM Mexico 2015 : Last Night on Earth Beach Party @ Blue Parrot by Alex Graham (NYC) published on 2015-09-03T22:00:57Z It's not everyday that Sasha himself invites you to play one of his parties...which is exactly what happened in this instance. I woke up one morning to find an email from one of my favorite DJs of all time asking if I'd like to play his Last Night on Earth beach party at the BPM festival, alongside him, Scuba, and Simon Baker. Naturally I said yes, and what you are hearing now is my opening set. BPM is a fantastic underground electronic music festival that takes place on the beaches of Playa del Carmen, Mexico every year in January at a variety of day and night venues. This particular party was at Blue Parrot, which is literally right on the beach, facing out towards the sea. My 2.5 hour set started at 11am, just as the town began to wake up. I could sense the hedonism from the night prior, which, when mixed with the sun, sea, and light breeze created sort of a melancholy sensation that reminded me a bit of Ibiza...which you may sense in the Balearic vibes that permeate throughout the mix. Anyhow - I've had this recording for 8 months, but never decided to release it until now. I was not feeling 100% when I played...the party itself ended up being really fun later on, but I myself came down with the flu only days before BPM...so I was actually on the mend for practically my entire stay in Mexico. On a humorous note, audio/video from the party was also broadcast live on Be-At.tv ....so there I was, looking out of it, coughing, etc...which of course earned me some choice commentary from the viewers who simply thought I was wasted from the night before :) Anyhow, while I don't think this is one of my best mixes, it certainly has its moments. Enough of my friends encouraged me to post this, that I finally decided to....enjoy! Genre House Comment by Eduardo Gómez alex 2016-01-08T22:05:18Z
