The Wind Is Lonely [disquiet0258] by Formant published on 2016-12-13T06:07:25Z This track was created for the Disquiet Junto #258. More on this 258th weekly Disquiet Junto project — “Sonic Climate: Express your local weather in sound” — at: http://disquiet.com/0258/ -- Growing up we had a set of wind chimes hanging off our living room window. They were old tubular metal chimes. Winter often reminds me of their sound. The only wind chimes I have in my studio are these glass chimes (in the picture) that I picked up at a flea market somewhere. I recorded myself "playing" the chimes. On top of that I added a wind drone, and then recorded a melodic fragment on my old tenor recorder. I like the melody because it wobbles back and forth between minor and major, though more heavy on the melancholy, I suppose. It's been that kind of a week. I took the melody and expanded it a bit and played it on a wine glass plug-in I have. Added lots of delay and verb on both the glass and the recorder to smear their sounds. Lastly I added a little bit of a beat. I love the snow in winter, but then there are those dreary rainy days... Genre Ambient Comment by Hypoid Very nice, I like how you used the distance of the guitar sound to give space behind the chimes! And the wind...because winter :-) 2016-12-13T23:41:41Z
