A LILY GRAY was founded by vocalist David Lynn Olsen, guitarist Sunimal Alles and drummer Ben Frank. Seasoned veterans of the Salt Lake City music scene, they instantly developed a loyal cult-following after only a few live shows. They quickly released two EPs engineered and mixed by multiple Grammy-winning Matt Winegar, “The Fall” and “Waiting Room”, the latter of which saw the introduction of bassist Justin Clark. When Ben resigned suddenly, longtime friend Brian Waite immediately stepped up as the replacement. Instantly, the band knew they had found their permanent lineup with the effortless chemistry of their first songwriting sessions, one of which would lead to the soaring art/pop-metal anthem “Story Goes”. Now based in both Salt Lake City and Boston, A LILY GRAY aim to broadcast their unique blend of metal, rock and space-prog ambience to a global audience with their debut LP “Sirens”. A continuous, immersive, 57-minute experience, “Sirens” was entirely written and produced by the band, and exquisitely mixed/mastered by none other than world-renowned producer and guitarist, TESSERACT-founder Acle Kahney. Recorded in 5 studios over the course of nearly 3 years, A LILY GRAY has successfully achieved a monumental undertaking in their first try that many acts aspire to their entire careers. While the band take comparisons to childhood heroes like TOOL and DEFTONES as massive compliments, they prefer to focus on the continued evolution and refinement of their unique sound. A LILY GRAY could be seen as unfeasible blend of virtues/egos on paper: David’s unique and stunning alt-rock inspired vocal composition and delivery, Suni’s virtuosic shredding ability and film score-ready electronic production techniques, Justin’s classically-trained, mathematically-driven approach to bass-playing and composition, and Brian’s Nu-jazz-infused technically mind-bending yet effortless percussion skills. However, these 4 have come together with a simple mission to create sounds that they themselves enjoy listening to, resulting in 10 memorable, addictive tracks that will enthrall both technically-inclined musicians and mainstream rock fans alike. “Sirens” will be released November 20, 2020 throughout all major digital outlets and streaming platforms. The first two singles, “Deal of the Month” and the aforementioned “Story Goes” are available now, both with two companion lyric videos that can be streamed on the band’s YouTube channel.
