Alibombo not only has an awesome percussion show, but also has an experimental laboratory of sound sources and sound control that uses musical equipment built by Alibombo themselves from recycled materials. Currently, the band is conformed by three percussionists: David Colorado, Feliciano Blandón and Lucas Jaramillo. They all produce their own original beats live using a LoopStation. The band gets most of the sounds from recycled materials like bike tires, plastic trash cans, cardboard boxes or from a zipper jacket. David Colorado, who is the current director, created Alibombo in 2009. He and Lucas Jaramillo started in the music industry influenced by the Rock & Roll of the 90’s. Later on, they spent several years investigating different musical genres and ways the sound was produced. After being exposed to the way mainstream music was made, they decided to investigete as well, how traditional music of their native country, Colombia, was made too. Sounds of native music such as cumbia, porro, currulao, and so on. At this point, appears Feliciano Blandón, who became an important member for the Alibombo band due to his knowledge on Colombian traditional dance and traditional percussion of the Colombian Atlantic coast. Also his African heritage gave the band the diversity needed to feel stronger as a band. Thanks to all these, we were able to achieve a very exotic sound; some people call it a unique experience while enjoying Alibombo’s stunning live shows.
