Alex Economou Alex Economou Athens Alex Economou was born in 1988 in Cyprus, a small, yet beautiful, island in the Mediterranean Sea. He began voice, piano, flute and dance lessons at the age of 8. Up until the age of 16, Alex took part in several singing competitions in Cyprus and Greece, and worked in different venues all over Cyprus. Till the age of 19, he had performed at the Grand Opening Event of The Porsche Showroom in Cyprus, was featured in a lot of national television shows and represented his country in the Basel Tattoo 2007 (European Military Band Festival, Belgium) with the Cyprus National Guard's Music Band & Orchestra. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA for 4 years where he was honored to receive the Voice Department Achievement Award. He graduated in May 2011 with a GPA of 3,6 with Honors. Along with his studying Alex has been an active singer songwriter. During the 4 years in Berklee he was selected as a lead singer for the song "This is the day" featured in the Greek movie “Ta Kolopaida” which was successfully premiered in September 2010 while he also participated in several Musical Theater productions. In the meantime, he travelled back and forth to Cyprus to perform in many different events. Some of the events where featured in national television such as the 1st Annual Rainbow Festival of Fine Arts, which has drawn people from all over the world. Alex now lives in Los Angeles, CA working on several different projects and performing at big venues such as the prestigious House of Blues. His first single "Brighter Day" topped the cypriot charts and the jazz-pop category on CDBaby.com and it was nominated for a 2012 HMMA award (Hollywood Music In Media Awards). In February 2013 Alex received the award for Best Jazz Artist of the Year in the Artists in Music Awards. His new single "No Criminal" was released in July 23, 2013 topping the charts in Cyprus 2 days after its release. Alex currently lives in New York.
