SOCIAL SENSIBILITY / WORK/LIVE 干活 Beijing Peng Lynn 彭浪 Talking to my grandfather (Hunan dialect) by Alessandro Rolandi published on 2021-11-09T20:37:26Z SOCIAL SENSIBILITY / WORK/LIVE 干活 Beijing Peng Lynn 彭浪 Talking to my grandfather (Hunan Dialect) Peng Lynn 彭浪 has worked as personal assistant to the CEO of Bernard Controls for over two years. She comes from a countryside area in Hunan province and she is still very attached to her hometown and to its traditions, especially to the sense of freedom, serenity and amusement in daily discoveries during her childhood. She speaks dialect with her mum and she really cares about maintaining this language. Since she started to collaborate with the Social Sensibility R&D Department she has been very curious about art and willingly to share about her interests in both traditional and contemporary literature. She finds the city's tentacular atmosphere too fast and at times oppressive, but she is not a nostalgic. She embraces change even if she does not fully agree with its disruptive speed. She tries to find balance in her attachment to specific principles of rural life and in the psychological mindset she grown up with, in which she continue to find an inner refuge. Her creative explorations and collaborations with the department have always been about oral ancestral culture and spirituality. Music and storytelling stays with her since her childhood. In this sound -piece, she elaborated a spoken-word text in Hunan dialect to her deceased grandfather, to whom she was very close. This sound-work was included in the following exhibitions: PRECARIAT'S MEETING at MCAM Ming Museum in Shanghai, WAITING FOR WORK at CACHE Space 798 Beijing and REBEL CITIES, at YAM Yang Art Museum Beijing.
