Alan J Harris Alan Harris Milwaukee, WI, United States My name is Alan Harris and I am a Milwaukee resident since the time that I can remember, lol. I've been playing the bass guitar for about 10 1/2 years now. I started when I was in the 7th grade at Lincoln School of the Arts. I originally was going there for the saxophone, but had an immediate interest in the bass guitar from a local church bass player. So my older brother, Terry Harris, Jr(keyboard player for the Kevin Hayden Trio), taught me how to play the bass guitar on a lead guitar with only 4 strings. Two years went by and I became a freshman at The Milwaukee High School of the Arts. I studied music theory and jazz improvisation there for 3 years, also taking lessons at The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and MYSO(Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra). Learning jazz was very exciting and taught me a lot that I had no idea about. I started gigging at different venues in Milwaukee while I was still in High School. So I graduated from High School and began to play for various churches in the Milwaukee area. Then the gigging scene really took place. I found myself playing for different bands or artist in Milwaukee. It slowed down a bit for about two years. So after the short/long term break I began playing with the Kevin Hadyen Trio in November of 2011. Since playing with the trio I've experienced a number of changes in my playing, stage presence, different techniques, rifts/runs, grooves and most of all foundation. Playing the bass is an amazing feeling and I love what I do, wouldn't trade it for anything. I have a 4 year old son who I love dearly. He inspires me a lot to continue to play, I can't stop now.
