Text by Akshaya Avril Tucker, inspired by a poem by Jason Mulligan (which was a response to Mozart/Goethe's light-hearted song, Das Veilchen, the Violet) and, in part, by the ancient Mesopotamian epic of Gilgamesh. "In the half-light, midnight waters a violet glow Oh, that I might taste that flower luminous nectar, life-giving power I have come so far Soon, I will leave these shores will sink to the sea floor Pray for me, friend that the sentient blossom doesn't eat me first! Voracious glare in its purple eyes gaping petals unhinged at the stem Growing wider and wider poised to attack! And I, poor traveller, a midnight snack!" Genre Classical
