Turnari is our new CD published May 20, 2014 on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and available in record stores.
A production that lasted 18 months gestation with which Agricantus, led by founders and members historical Mario Crispi and Mario Rivera, resumed the journey between the sounds and the atmospheres of "other cultures".
"Return", reunion, rebirth, resume, retrace ...
Collect fragments of the own past, shaping materials to build a new future.
How long in a natural rhythm that "back " and is renewed each time, Agricantus borrows the "universals " of the seasonal cycles, created by the equinoxes and solstices, full moons and new moons: they are repeated incessantly, similar to themselves, but always different and renewed. Agricantus restarts from here, or from proposing a path, ideally as long as a year, marked by simple and ancestral concept of astral regularity , indicating the return of this new artistic path.
A collective dimension that the band conceived as a recovery of its past human and artistic values, together friends and traveling companions old and new.
Here, then , a new and valuable contribution to Federica Zammarchi ( voice - electronics), Giovanni Lo Cascio (drums - percussion) and Giuseppe Grassi (mandoloncello - mandola). Special guests and collaborators: Massimo Laguardia, Giuseppe Panzeca, Enzo Rao, Pivio & Aldo De Scalzi, Nello Mastroeni.
Turnari is, therefore, an intense team work which, not coincidentally , goes back to being produced by Paolo Dossena and Compagnai Nuove Indye, Agricantus historical producer and record label, who have published and promoted in the World, from beginning, all the successes of the band.
The album, write entirely in the Sicilian language, blend styles, sounds and musical atmosphere from various sources, creating in perfect continuity with the musical syncretism so dear to band and that has characterized their productions over time. Compared to past productions, in which technology and electronics contributed , through sampling, to give a panorama of sound coming from other cultures, turnari is entirely played by the musicians who participated.
So the band wanted to give the right space for each musician , telling the musically artistic encounter. The texts refer of an inner dimension of awareness of the existence and importance of joining forces to overcome the difficulties, the natural wonder of love, courage to face the sacrifice, and the rebirth of the time as an opportunity .
Turnari represents the rebirth that ideally all we need to pursue, when we feel the need, with the consciousness that the sharing of emotions, thoughts and adversity strengthens us and makes us conscious part of humanity.
When the music return it is always a rebirth!
