d song-writing and a feverish excitement for pushing creative boundaries.
With a big heart and bigger ambitions, Agné proved she was no ordinary kid and as the driving force behind Lithuania’s 2000 best act ‘Smile’, Agné signed a contract as the band’s producer, songwriter, guitarist and singer aged just 13. Surrounded by adults, but with a startling maturity, Agné constantly proved she could work at a level beyond expectations- chasing the horizon from her Baltic hometown of Klaipeda, through the changing landscape of Eastern Europe to the US and the heart of London, developing a bug for late nights in the studio, hours of guitar, piano practise and Marvin Gaye.
Determined and strong willed, Agné’s journey wasn’t simple – approaching a major record label after class, her interest in music was inevitable and ironic, joining art school aged just six years old she chose instead to focus on art and psychology, literally refusing when her startling musical abilities were encouraged by her interviewers. Stubborn but surrounded by music, she soon picked up her first guitar aged 11 and immediately became hooked, ignoring her homework and absorbing herself completely in new sounds and ideas.
Sharing her passion with another talented musician Viktoras Rubezas, Agné’s dreams unconsciously became the catalyst for a series of events that would change the lives of a group of friends sharing the bands vision. As ‘Smile’, the five children not only impressed a local producer to record their first single for free but later stood nervously across from Lithuania’s most respected label executive miles away in Lithuania’s capital Vilnius, having been tipped off that he would be eating lunch.
Leaving the minimally produced ‘More than the World’ single on a cassette tape, the band left little knowing that before they reached home they would be speaking about signing a contract - appearing for many live TV shows and performing more than 160 concerts yearly across Europe and America. The Band's first record entitled “What a Strange World” was released in 1999 and by 2000 Agné Genyté was nominated for the best new act during the Lithuanian National “Bravo” and “Radiocentras” awards, winning “Best Youngest Act” during the “Mama, I will sing” competition.
As the recording studio became her second home, Agné constantly challenged herself with new projects, writing music for films, advertising and continuing to experiment with sound. Moving to the USA as the band pursued different directions, she emerged from a talented teenager to an accomplished twenty year old with bounds of life experience and a drive that surpasses others. A pivotal time in her life, Agné developed herself personally, gaining an interest in business and reading autobiographies of her inspirations, while absorbing herself completely in the music of her idols John Mayer, Nitin Sawhney and Massive Attack.
Striving for excellence but working with real values and a passion for sincerity, Agné left America with a plan. Moving to Denmark with a scholarship to study in business she gained the valuable experience needed to excel in the market with strong financial and relationship skills that underlie the professionalism of her projects – and continuing her music career in media production and Music with a degree in the UK, she has since moved to London with experience of working in Radio, with other artists and film scores as well as management and strong technology skills driven not least by a great influence from industry superstars apple and Virgin.
Continuing to work across new ideas and always open to a challenge, Agné speaks several languages with homes in the UK and Denmark where she loves to enjoy the beaches, running, eating healthily and reading inspiring stories. She loves coffee and relaxing with an occasional glass of wine.
