careful palindromes (disquiet0344) by JamesHumbers published on 2018-08-06T02:06:01Z I wrote a piece called “Palindromes” as part of an electro-acoustic installation on board a submarine at the Australian National Maritime Museum in 2014/15. This one was acoustic in performance, but each cell was recorded separately and then a little bespoke app on a Raspberry Pi in the sub has been remixing them according to various chance principals for 4 years since. In this case, I grabbed the MIDI from the original score, dropped each cell into Ableton, recorded a performance intuitively, and then spent a day playing around with new softsynths I’d bought from Korg, recording lots of automation over the top… fun. This is my first track for the Disquiet Junto, after being inspired by Ethan Hein for several years. Welcome! 2018-08-09T21:33:42Z Comment by Hypoid Beautiful piece, a very interesting process and description! Has a lovely underwater vibe, and I don't think it was power of suggestion ;-) 2018-08-09T00:19:16Z Comment by Ya Wha? Fantastic result, and what a wonderful idea and execution.
