Actor - Michael Hurst Michael Hurst Auckland New Zealand actor/director Michael Hurst is best known internationally as Iolaus on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and for directing Starz tv series Spartacus. In New Zealand he is perhaps better known for his work on the stage, especially for his esteemed productions of Shakespeare. He has lectured on Shakespeare at university and high schools, is Chair of the Trust for Outdoor Summer Shakespeare at The University of Auckland, and Patron of the Young Auckland Shakespeare Company. He also teaches Shakespeare performance at Auckland's prestigious The Actors' Program. Michael has directed and acted in films, television, and over 150 theatre productions, from classics to pantomime, comedy, tragedy, musicals, and cabaret. He has also been a producer of television and theatre, has a Laureate Award from the Arts Foundation of New Zealand, and was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit "for services to film and the theatre". No Holds Bard is Michael's first solo show, and it has received rave reviews and standing ovations wherever it's been performed in New Zealand and Australia.
