the new objective presents 'Social Music' (la lumière mix] by acloserlisten

A mix for Post Global show on Kanal 103 radio in Skopje, N. Macedonia.

The first half of the mix features mainly what I'd call social music, compositions that are designed to be performed by amateur musicians or are otherwise works that explore various means of collaboration as a compositional method. I recently wrote a chapter on Musica Elettronica Viva, so I worked in a lot of artists associated with that group (Curran, Rzewski, Cardew, Forti, Lacy) as well as other related currents of electronic music and creative music. The second half features two tracks from La Lumiere du soleil dans une semi-sol interspersed with unreleased archival material from Stefan (@spirodon) and me, radio performances, live performances, unreleased fragments. I tried to present a kind of overview of our work over the last 7 years or so, but also tried to draw some connections between that work and the material on La Lumiere. I closed off with a cut from Anarchist Mountains Trio and from a recent album by Renato Grieco (who mastered our most recent CD) in collaboration with Francesco Tignola.
