Wanderers by acjohnson published on 2011-12-17T06:43:45Z Update on May 25, 2021: I dedicate this to Joel Chadabe, whose death was announced today. He taught the class in which I wrote this piece. His class has a profound impact on how I think about art and music, and this piece is probably the most artistically ambitious thing I've done in my life, to date. A piece composed for a class at NYU. This piece was created using CSound, employing granular synthesis, cross-frequency modulation, and FM synthesis. It is not meant to represent anything concrete, but I titled it "Wanderers", because it has a meandering sound to it; everything in it sounds very drawn out. This may not be the best title, because it also has a feeling of anticipation to it, to me. Please listen to it over headphones or a good stereo system, computer speakers don't do it justice, and I mean that in the most humble way possible.
