Bangi (a lot of people) by Ugandan hiphop artist, Abramz.
This track was done in Luganda laguage. It's full of deep poetry and metaphors.
The translation of the hook is "A lot of people who oftenly see me don't know who I am and a lot of people that know who I am don't oftenly see me". This song talks about how the different people know, understand or view Abramz.
He is a person who does so many things, that's why various people describe him differently. People know him as a rapper, bboy, breakdancer, youth mentor, leader, teacher, student, workshop facilitator, consultant, hustler, orphan, ghetto boy, writer, leader, school drop out, development worker, voice for the voiceless, strategic thinker, positive role model, opportunity creator (because he plants seeds that bare fruits for the benefit of the needy), patriot, visual artist, researcher, traveller, events host etc.
Some people say that he has 4 eyes. 2 in the front and 2 in the back because he always sees where he is going and where he is coming from. Some people used to say that he was cursed and would never be successful in life but he worked hard, turned his own and many other people's dreams into a reality which has given him a happy and content state of mind.
And there are also loads of people who don't have a clue of who he is so they usually judge him by what they think. That's why some that don't know who he is think of him as worthless, stupid, thug, lowbrow etc. Abramz is shepherd that you can hardly distinguish from the sheep.
Beat made by Ugandan beatmaker known as Koz n Effekt. Recorded by Skinnie at Infinit3 Studios in Kampala. 2012.
