Parts 1, 2 & 3 of 6. The River is a mixed instrumental and vocal piece and soundtrack music for my post-apocalyptic adventure series Blackout. The first three minutes of instrumental would be used as the soundtrack theme. The music and lyrics of this sprawling 27-minute track reflect the perspective and backstory adventures of the character Ray, a mysterious treasure hunter who discovers an artifact encoded with ancient Chinese medical cures that may hold humanity's only hope for survival. Ray, once a scholar, lost his wife and child in an earthquake twenty five years earlier. Turning his back on polite society, and driven half-mad with untreated PTSD, Ray now lives by his wits in a constant state of movement, travelling to obscure, dangerous regions of the Golden Triangle, in search of treasure and rehabilitation.

LYRICS Excerpt from Parts 1-4 of The River:
The River
CHORUS
My baby, don’t wander around on the road
My baby, don’t wander around
Bad baby, don’t wander around on the road
Bad baby, don’t wander around
My baby, don’t wander around on the road
Bad baby, don’t wander around
My baby, don’t wander around on the road
My baby, don’t wander around
VERSE 1
Down to the river where the mud-birds know
Yeah down to Pistol Levee where the hyacinths grow
There is a house where the rovers meet
In the blood and the dirt called The Eurydice
We met up there on these temple lands
Full moon in the clouds, gold spell in her hands
She took me in to her lush treasury
Looking at her face that I saw in a dream
Hey hey, hey hey, hey hey
Nice way, one time, today
Where have you been my black-eyed girl?
Back from table dancing on the roof of the world?
Who bumps and grinds in the Singapore night?
With eyes full of stars from the northern lights
You feel so good baby, feel so fine
Hit the crib together, cut the noose of time
Who lays the flowers at your wishing well?
Saint quickly turning into animal
Hey hey, hey hey, hey hey
Nice day, won time, today
REPEAT CHORUS
VERSE 2
Cyclone Billy how’d you get that crown?
Like the secret king of the underground
He’s like a cat that can walk through walls
Avoid the gallows and the shopping malls
Turn limes from Indonesia to nails from Sudan
Bullets from Columbia to tea from Samarkand
Sell the lot to London for new crypto from Japan
Five months later flip it for a palace in Milan
Hey hey, hey hey, hey hey
Nice way, one time, today
The rain is falling and I’m all alone
I miss my baby and I wanna go home
But I’m on the payback plan to the mule driver man
Cos I burned up all my money in Tajikistan
So I head on down to the water line
Containers start to land
Waive ‘em on to Mr. No Ask John
He takes the contraband
Hey hey, hey hey, hey hey
Nice day, won time, today
