Social Creatures: A community to play by You Are Here From WERS published on 2014/03/31 00:10:46 +0000 Writer and surgeon Atul Gawande wrote about solitary confinement in a 2009 essay for the New Yorker. He writes, “Human beings are social creatures. We are social not just in the trivial sense that we like company, and not just in the obvious sense that we each depend on others. We are social in a more elemental way: simply to exist as a normal human being requires interaction with other people.” Today on You Are Here we explore our existence as social creatures by taking you to different community hangouts in Boston. We’ll talk to people who have found a place to thrive, even if that means stepping out of the norm.
