In the late 80’s the music scene was littered with hair bands and pop music oozing out of ghetto blasters and car radio’s, but there was a growing underground movement where DJ’s were able to create a sound untempered by the record labels of the time. Captivating new fans around the world they took this sound to the streets and began a music revolution. Erick Armas is one of those fans that would ultimately become a revolutionary. For years he dedicated himself to studying the constantly evolving trends of electronica, hip hop, house, dance and world beats, but it would be his own sonic experiments that would eventually earn him the respect of his peers. Every extra penny he made was spent collecting countless vinyl records and spinning them all day and night. While mastering the art of beat matching DJs like: Paul Oakenfold, David Morales, Deep Dish, Todd Terry, Frankie Knuckles, Satoshie Tomiie, Hernan Cattaneo and Danny Tenaglia became his audible mentors, while trying hard to live up their influence in his life. By the time he hit 19 he was already creating a demand for his abilities, spinning at various underground events such as Zero Gravity; Land of The Lost and Rave On! The party scene taught him how to play to the crowds as they became hypnotized by his seamless audio adrenaline. After building a reputation for himself he began sharing decks with DJs and producers such as: Joseph Christopher, Morgan Page, Carmen Rizzo, Tony Largo, DJ Sol, Pete Lorimer, Peter Black, Joey D’Matteo, Chris Cox, Tomcraft, DJ Lottie, Swedish Egil, Eon Dakota, Grant Plant, Pablo Blasi, Angel Alanis, Madison, Simon Lucca, Mark Lewis, Johnny Lexx and Raul Campos. Soon he was in demand all over the world from the US to Germany and Italy to South America playing such hot spots as Status, Network, Club Sin, Zodiac, Grand Avenue, The Factory, The Palace (Now known as Avalon), Club Sugar, King King, The Derby, The Palms, The In Crowd, FAÇADE, Joseph’s in Hollywood, Chemistry Los Angeles, Uplifto, Calibar, Club Orion, Prana, Beverly Club, Discotheque, Tempest, Deep (On Vine), Star Shoes, Here Lounge, Circus Disco. With Erick’s ability ranging from deep vocal house, dark tribal progressive percussive funky beats, new wave, disco, to freestyle, he remains a favorite to his fans and club owners around the world. Now after a six-month residency at “Ivar” in Hollywood CA, Erick is back on tour to continue to sharpen his skills and to keep evolving as a DJ. In honor of his achievements the City of Los Angeles gave Erick the rare privilege of throwing the sickest party of the year to over 20,000 people at the Chinese New Year celebration in downtown Los Angeles.
