Wilhelm De Wet - Jake Gerwel Tegnies by Radio Cape Pulpit 729AM published on 2018-02-21T11:01:24Z The Jakes Gerwel Technical High School Two years ago a fantastic vision for education was conceived. This vision would cost R100million and the first phase had to be executed within less than two years, but the rural community of Bonnievale was desperate to see meaningful education provided to their youth and stood together in faith to see the impossible happen. Passionate local business people contributed 12 hectares of vineyard land. Spurred on by the vision local farmworkers and township people invested their time and sweat free of charge to help take out vines and prepare the land, while a local architect, civil, mechanical and electrical engineers waved professional fees. An earth moving company offered all their equipment free of charge and farmers in the valley collectively contributed thousands of litres of diesel and equipment. Shoulder to shoulder local people from all backgrounds worked together to see this vision materialize. Wilhelm de Wet joined Wanda Bam on Leef to tell us more about this fantastic project.
