DJ 0mshant1 started off in 1999 with a residency in the first tea house to open in Montreal for their ''Chai nights'' blending Dub, Downtempo, Trip Hop and IDM with world music, on vinyl. After a trip to India in 2001, he started to mix more CD's with strong Indian elements already in the tracks like early Asian Breakbeats. He met DJ Field who was working for Interchill Records and have been introduced to new chill out artists and Global beats. 0mshant1 started taking more bookings from different promoters and had the chance to play alongside Adham Shaikh in one of the first standalone chill out all nighter of his city, a genre that could only be found in the second room of raves beforehand. 0mshant1 played at countless indoor and outdoor events on the Canadian East Coast pushing the Psydub genre, until he started buying Dubstep vinyls in 2006 incorporating his new found love in his sets on bigger sound systems. 0mshant1 has been the first to play an all vinyl Dubstep set in a major Psytrance open air in Quebec (Eclipse Festival 2007). He also promoted few Bass heavy events in Montreal until he switched to faster BPM's in 2010-2011 (Drumstep and Drum and Bass), while focusing on his own productions.
