I really like these, they add just enough spice to make the classics accessible without screwing up what makes them classics.

lovely lovely choirs indeed - Im gonna check if I have any Mellotron samples around now :p

    2. zuur on November 01, 2009 18:23

@raytrace: I use M-Tron, but there's bound to be tons of samples around. I must hold back not to use it in every track ;)

@zuur: yeh i keep meaning to get that - even Gordon Reid says it's great

The compression crushing the drums down sounds nice but it kinda fills up more than its fair share of the mix. Maybe crossfade it with a little of the dry signal to reintroduce some of the original dynamics?

    2. zuur on November 11, 2009 08:44

@Campadrenalin: I didn't mind that 'thumpy' pushiness to be honest, but I will give your suggestions a try later tonight, just to hear what it'd do to the sound!

very nice and 'spacey' (as in sci-fi not as in 'positioning'/reverb :p )

I can hear the 80s influence here for sure, but it only adds to the awesomeness.

love them bongo's feel very natural where they from i heard them before

    2. zuur on September 04, 2009 07:46

@The Observer: They're from a special sample cd with just bongo and conga sounds. Not sampled from a particular track as far I know.

    3. The Observer on September 04, 2009 08:54

@zuur: deffo sounds familiar, probably used in some other track i heard back in the days ...it is solid drummin man

The audio stretching and timing changed somewhat in Live 8, so I'll keep on tweaking with classical tunes to get the hang of it. Another bit of Vivaldi - his Concerto for Recorder RV439.
