    This Is Not The End by Zombies in Miami is the second installment in a promising new year of releases from Correspondant. Due out 17 February, Correspondant #23 is conjured up by rising Mexican production duo and self-described hybridists of techno, rock, and cosmic disco, Jenice & Canibal. The release is their first for the label, following support from affiliated Correspondant artists such as Barnt, Ivan Smagghe, Pachanga Boys, Rebolledo, and label head Jennifer Cardini. The EP’s title track sets the tone, evoking the dark, narcotic energy of Correspondant’s signature aesthetic inspired by Cardini’s warm-up sets as a longtime resident at Rex Club in Paris. “This Is Not The End” opens with the low drone of vaguely monastic chanting, giving way to rhythmic pacing punctuated by skittering high hats. “Interlude” is an electrified lull. A deep, steady, synth string pulse gradually becomes more frenetic, catching itself just before reaching its zenith. The first of two title track remixes comes from Man Power, whose reverb-saturated, discordant rework lives up to the ambiguous producer’s moniker with modulated, distorted strings, caustic electric guitar riffs, and a hypnotic bassline. Man Power’s psychedelic inclinations are picked up in the subsequent remix by Hugo Capablanca, whose Discos Capablanca label reflects his own eclectic production synthesis of offbeat, Chicago-influenced analogue house, krautrock, and cosmic dub. His rework of “This Is Not The End” elongates the introductory drones of the original and adds textural static, before filtering the atmospherics into an electrified arpeggio that leaves a phantom resonance long after its closing chords fade out.
