July 6, 2011 (Toronto, ON) --
After the successful release of Discipline in March 2010 and the re-release of Getting on My Mind in late 2010, Panic Bomber, aka Richard Haig, is returning with a third album on YYZ Records, titled Domestic Violins, released this July 6th, 2011.
Domestic Violins separates itself from Panic Bomber's previous material by eschewing vocal-based songwriting for DJ'able grooves. This release marks a transition into a more flow-oriented state of mind emphasizing atmosphere while maintaining his trademark progressive-pop forthrightness.
The first track, "Visit from the Grave (featuring Madam Asuka)" is slower than fans are accustomed to. It's a catchy, creepy burner with the vocal stylings of PB's live second-vocalist delivering a haunting rendition of Haig's lyrics evoking a disassociating eerie atmosphere with a persistent, yet subdued energetic arpeggiated synth. The second track, "Null Rider" is a relaxed tech house-inspired spinnable jam with lush choral vocals & pads. "Kill the Beast" is PB's rendition of the more aggressive Detroit style up-tempo techno with a pitched vocal hook and deep rolling bass. On the fourth title, "Snakes of Hawaiʻi", Haig takes a decidedly leftfield approach to house music with an IDM-influenced noisy yet upbeat jangly pulsing banger. The closing piece, "Space Adventure!" is exactly what it purports to be: an exhilarating journey through musical space and time which, while exploratory, never leaves the listener without a grounded beat root.
The first video single from the release, "Visit from the Grave" was released in June to critical acclaim. Panic Bomber is currently on tour, performing and DJ'ing at Electric Forest festival, Camp Bisco festival, and Brooklyn Bowl, among other appearances.
Panic Bomber is a new breed of dance floor innovator who is quickly attracting worldwide praise. The brainchild of Richard Haig, a Miami-based musician who graduated with a degree in Music from the University of Miami, and cut his chops playing in a variety of indie rock and punk bands. The music is instantly appealing, familiar to electronic music enthusiasts yet difficult to place in any one genre, incorporating elements of electro, tech-house, trance, pop, rock, IDM, or whatever else a particular piece calls for.
Panic Bomber’s explosive shows include live vocals, keyboards, and often a 3-piece horn section. Notable performances include sold out shows in London, Glasgow, Toronto, and Miami with appearances opening for Rihanna, La Roux, and at Pride Toronto and Ultra Music Festival.
