Multimedia artist originally from northern Alberta, Canada.
I use radio transmitters and receivers, analog electronics, shellac records, recorded samples, and computers to create spaces and surfaces of static and pressure.
Usually my tracks are frameworks or systems around which I improvise. As I come from a visual arts background, I do not practice or assemble musical structures in the way a musician might. The concept is in the processes and narratives in which I choose to make and take sounds, rather than any set musical composition. The action is improvised within systemic frameworks, which are usually dead simple. I like to play systems that are slightly beyond my control, the tension being the balance of chaos and intention as well as my own confusion and inability to understand what is happening. I am allergic to the idea of virtuosity and prefer my systems and ideas to be "stupid simple" at least on the surface.
