About
Hailing from our nation’s capital, twenty-three year old Yola Monster (Jason Berto), is dedicated to ending the robot apocalypse and spreading the true sounds of bass music to the United States. Inspired by Jamaican sound system culture, Yola is always looking for new ways to stretch bass bins and induce widespread skanking. Known throughout the city for his unrivaled energy, luxurious hair, and eclectic library, Yola utilizes rhythm and bass to create an audible experience never to be replicated.
Yola's DJ career originated from his love for the positive vibe a proper set transmits to a crowd. The goal is always to make the crowd an active participant in the set, and Yola has accomplished this in some of the country’s most notorious clubs along side some of the world’s biggest names. If music is sound, and sound is vibration, vibration is Yola. Yola has armed himself with the tools necessary for designing the bass wave coup d’état of Babylon system.
Yola's low end driven sets have been known to comprise shades of all bass music genres blended into one cohesive bass anthem, often leaving his listeners shouting, “Track ID!” Yola always takes ownership of his sound and the ultimate theme, low frequencies. His monthly bass music residency “Computa Age” at Patty Boom Boom is quickly becoming one of the hottest parties in D.C. and a who’s who of bass music standouts – hosting the likes of Joe Nice and Deep Medi Muzik’s Dark Tantrums. Yola also hosts a radio show the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month live on bassradio.fm letting the people know where to look and making a name for his sound around the world. When not behind the decks, Yola is in his studio producing heavy vibes to be shared with the world and supporting the bass music movement.
