With DJs flocking to the Sunshine state from as far field as New Zealand, Japan, Saudi Arabia, France, South Africa, The UK and even Sweden, The Valley has become quite the centre for a melting pot in clubbing. This is especially so for Julien Beltzung also known as YokoO, French born, European raised but undisputedly now Australian bred.

YokoO has emerged into the sunshine as a DJ/Producer of significance, boosting the Deep House sector of the local Brisbane dance industry with his tasty mixing skills and a refined sense in tune selections, with subtle melodies that clamber atop the senses and thick instrumental textures strewn atop profound bass lines that surge powerfully through exposed bodies and corners.

Not your typical Dj he’s quite the antithesis of your stereotype then again he’s not your typical guy either.

First arriving on the Sunshine Coast to study International Business after his years studying in Strasbourg, it has been an hour’s drive inland that YokoO found a welcoming berth with Brisbane punters up for his mindset and also his music.

Since being exposed to clubbing from his years studying in Strasbourg, YokoO has immersed himself in the music scene and industry, sharing his passion for deep music at such venues as Barsoma, Family and Empire in Brisbane, Platinum Lounge on the Gold Coast, Spice, Deep As Fu*k and Favela in Sydney and Syrup in Hobart to name a few, while also having his original productions signed to a variety of record labels such as PlusMinus and Hertzlich in Germany and Kina in Italy.

Chosen to set up rooms at Godskitchen 2007, Global Gathering 2008 and Parklife 2009, YokoO also translates to the festival crowds.

Brisbane may be a long way from his humble beginnings playing as a bedroom DJ in Strasbourg but his love for house has never waned.

His sound is evidently a recreation of his deeply spiritual relationship with technology and music.
