What up world! My name is Van Kay and I’m a 22 year old music producer from Seattle, WA. I’ve been making beats since I was 14 and fell in love with it right away. I come from a family of very creative and talented people so I’ve always enjoyed making music and other mediums of art as well.

When I was in 6th grade was when I learned how to play my first instrument. Throughout middle school I pl
ayed the clarinet and saxophone, and in the 8th grade was when I first got introduced to making beats. My uncle that I lived with at the time had a copy of Acid Music and told me to give it try. Next thing I knew I was spending hours on hours trying to figure out how to read sound waves and from there I started chopping samples. About a year later was when I was put on to Reason and I haven’t gotten off it since!

Since I started making music my style’s changed a lot. I love all types of music so I try to experiment with everything. I listen to everything from rap to rnb, electronic, dubstep, rock, soul and even 80s music. Some of my biggest inspirations are Smokey Robinson, Kanye West, Crystal Castles, Ryan Leslie, and Empire of the Sun just to name a few. I’m only getting better at doing what I love so making music is something I plan on doing for the rest of my life!

Besides making music, I’m also a big fan of skateboarding, graphic design, reading, and have been really getting into cooking lately. I love chillin out with my homeboys and spending quality time with my family.
