About

This is the work of Christian Granquist in his three principal projects.
Firstly, the band The Atom. Playing keyboards and occasional vocals. Style leaning towards 80´s New Wave and New Romantic, using hardware synths as Roland Jupiter 6, Oberheim OB8, SC Sixtrak and a Roland String Machine. Analogue Fetiche. We´ve just released our first EP, First Deadly steps on Spotify and other digital channels.

Secondly; the solo stuff (labelled Calypso Electronique)is based on the idea of doing an inverted Nouvelle Vague, meaning to take old calypsos and bossanova songs from the 50´s and 60s and giving them a 80´s new wavish sound. Just having fun. Here I sometimes fall into the software synth trap - using Reason and Jupiter 8V, but complementing with my SC Drumtraks and CR78. All material is still just sketches.

Last, but not least, the new Johnathan|Christian project , with fellow Soundclouder Johnathan Mooney, which is moving forward rapidly and there is a plan of releasing an album later this year or beginning of 2013. I´ve posted a couple of demos , and will be posting more.....

General Influences range from Gary Numan, Duran Duran to Editors, She Wants Revenge via Specials, 50´s calypso and mambo and of course Serge Gainsbourg and Scott Walker.
Always up for collabs- that´s what SC is for for, no?
