Steve Paul Jativa was born in Quito, Ecuador in 1968. He was the son of the first Jativa immigrant to migrate from Ecuador to the US in 1968. Although he spells his last name JATIVA his last name was originally the name of a small city in Spain and was spelled XATIVA in the early 1800's.
Steve started playing the piano when he was 12 years old. He never took any lessons, he was never taught how to play. One day Steve sat down in front of the piano that his father bought for the family and started playing around with the keys. Eventually he would find out that he had the natural gift of being able to play by ear. In only a few days he composed his first song ever. " In Her Life" truly a beautiful ballad. After his first song, this became a natural every day hobby for him. His second composed song was " If I should Die" a very Classical Beethoven feel.
Steve eventually continued to compose more melodies, however something was missing. Steve always wanted to keep challenging himself , he was not satisfied with just 2 songs. His third composed song was " Let me Tell You" this song was also the first song he wrote with lyrics. Steve then new he truly was gifted not only because he had the ability to write music by ear but he also was able to write lyrics as well.
