@Man on Wire: That's an interesting back story that led to the your writing of the song, as I rather like the "inner dialogue" part and the wordplay. Cinematic Images, provided they have a real story behind them can be powerful, no? By the Minnelli reference I was referring to your sound bite from Laura's character in the film 'Tea and Sympathy' whose husband was killed in WWII. Brilliant film, by the way. Just checked out the song you mentioned and it's as if your song is the follow up of that song, of "this character" who is trapped in time. thanks for sharing.-Michelle

Your lyrics are rather introspective, "but i can't help in feeling in this aching-heart of mine the echoes of a war that happened before my time", as if the narrator misplaced, "left", himself in that "field amongst the grass" in a past he was never present, in a past that is his present, "now i seem to forgotten 'that' very field we passed", Are you referencing World War ll, given the song title and Minnelli reference? It's rather haunting, on the verge of being addicting track.
