About
William Rauscher is Night Plane. He is watched over by the god Apollo. Raised in Texas, William currently lives in New York where he produces music, writes and teaches at NYU. After several years playing fuzzed-out keys in rock bands, William started Night Plane, which he was flown solo since 2009. His live set is a potent brew of sexy slow-mo disco, minimal house, indie vibes and Madchester madness. Night Plane has performed live on three continents, including recent stops in Moscow, Berlin, the Wolf+Lamb label showcase at WMC 2012, and D-Edge in Sao Paulo.
Night Plane caught notice in 2010 when his dream-house bootleg Str8 2 Ur Heart caught on fire, first championed by Soul Clap and then receiving heavy support from the likes of DJ Three, Till Von Sein and Sasha. Last year his haunting tune Parallel Lines made it onto the Clap’s mix for Art Department’s No.19 label, and his well-loved remix of LA girl rockers Warpaint lit up the deep house dancefloors with its potent brew of indie guitars and trippy vocals.
In 2010 Willliam founded CCC together with DJ Harry Bennett and art director JM as an outlet for creative projects in multiple fields. The CCC label output includes Str8 2 Ur Heart as well as the barnstorming Acid Snow and a number of deep-house tinged indie remixes. CCC’s first book, On Acid: A Field Guide to Altered States, collects research from the group’s encyclopedic Acid Age blog. On Acid explores psychedelia in contemporary art and literature and was recently acquired by the MoMA library.
