"I've been doing a lot of mixes recently, and sometimes it can be hard to give each one a distinct identity. It also makes you ask the question, 'what I am trying to show with this mix'? Sometimes you need to do a mix to show promoters what your club sets are like, or a selection of your own tracks to show where your productions are going. On this occasion I just wanted to enjoy a couple of the tunes I listen to at home, but don't play out. It starts deep with Tim Hecker, who I'm a huge fan of - I love the abstract nature of his tunes, I love the noise, and the slow shifting textures; and then segues into a new release on Hotflush from Sepalcure, who take the same kind of vibe but bring a beat into it too. From there I've included some dubs from local producers Skinnz and Phaelah, before taking it darker, colder and more dancefloor for a while. I finished the mix off with a personal favourite from my back catalogue - "Into The Air" was the final track on my & Baobinga's first album 'Big Monster', and it was kind of our attempt to do an electronic, but rocky sort of sound. It's slow, it's quite melancholic, it's distorted and it's definitely not dancefloor, but it's one of those tracks that as a producer you have to do sometimes - just to remind yourself that you can do more than just club bangers!" - I.D.
