A summer special? In the winter? Well yes, why not? The WPH Summer Special 2010 is the stuff of Discogs legends by now, so we figured we’d do this again: a split-label, split- distribution release between We Play House Recordings and Lany Recordings, between Rush Hour and Clone. We are all in the good music business together.

The WPH side kicks off with a remix Russ Gabriel did for outfit Norken + Deer. A Soundcloud meeting led to Russ falling in love with this track and wanting to do a remix of it. Naturally we here at WPH were keen to hear what Russ had done and the rest was quite logical, because how could we NOT release this absolutely stunning remix? Come FCL for the second track on the A-side. Ever since the ‘Vocals for Everyone E.P.’ people have been wondering what would come next from San Soda and Red D’s FCL project. Well, a lot will come in the next months, and in between the making of ‘a lot’ they bumped into an old rave sound in a drum machine, combined it with a twisted sense of humour, et voilà, ‘Zelfspot (Ja)’ was born.

On the Lany side we find two more tracks from our family. The first one a remix Lemakuhlar and Red D did for Rebirth, that will be digital only on this Italian label. Digital only? Not in our neck of the woods, so we are vinylizing this remix effort. Back in the days a long intro was nothing to be afraid of, nowadays DJ’s are scared to lose a crowd if the beat is missing for 25 seconds, unless there’s an Ableton woosh somewhere in the mix… Play this one from start to finish, and do not forget to mix out of your trance... Concluding the Lany side is label boss Maxim Lany, reworking his mighty ‘Cuncambias’ (only appeared on limited WPH Red) to great effect. Is it summer again?
