The Afro-baroque band Stew and the Negro Problem, which performs this weekend at the Museum of Contemporary Art, is more more than the sum of its parts. “Stew” (Mark Stewart) a Tony Award-winning actor, and his songwriting partner Heidi Rodewald spent an entire summer meeting with Chicagoans from all over the city. What ensued is part band, musical and quasi-oral history. Heidi Rodewald and Stew join The Morning Shift to discuss their musical journey.
