Former Oak Parker Matthew Friedberger has spent the better part of the past decade bending the notions of rock -- indie or otherwise -- to his will as the principal songwriting half of the band The Fiery Furnaces, fronted by sister Eleanor. Friedberg has had a prolific few years on his own, as well. He’s released some eight albums in his “Solos” series. His latest, Matricidal Sons of Bitches, is due out today (Tuesday) on Thrill Jockey Records. Friedberger, now living in Paris, created the album -- some 45 songs in total -- as a soundtrack to a nonexistent movie. He joins to talk about his enormous body of work.
