In a speech this week army chief General Abdul-Fattah el-Sisi, called on Egyptians to hold mass demonstrations on Friday to give the military a mandate to confront what he called " violence and terrorism" that has followed the removal of President Mohamed Morsi. Some supporters of former president Morsi have said the general's statements amount to a call for civil war. Nezar Alsayyad, chair of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, joins us to discuss the ongoing political crisis in Egypt. (Photo: AP Images)
