4’33” Remixed
In the original piece 4’33” by John Cage he instructed the performer(s) to NOT play their instrument(s) for the entire duration of the piece. Cage’s intention was to focus the listener’s attention to their surroundings, bringing the notion that all sound is music.
We created this set of rules for our Remixes of 4’33”
• Only use sounds from existing recordings of 4’33'' e.g the opening of a piano lid, background hum of the recording, a chair moving etc.
• Must be 4'33'' in duration.
• Keep in consideration of Cages concepts.

"The idea in my remix was to create a duet between what comes from the speakers/headphones of the listener and his/her surroundings. But also to explore that interaction and create the sense of a certain clash of realities."
