Biography
It was a warm mid-summer afternoon when Jakob Seidensticker (MPC 4000), Florian Schirmacher (Keys & Vox) and Henrik Raabe (Guitar) met, “just to play a bit around”. With congas and drums, old synths and a sequencer they started jamming in a basement close to the Hamburg harbour. The outcome was a 46 minute recording. They named the song “Men Village” and Connaisseur Records was brave enough to release this epic tune. Wareika´s debut single.
In May 2009 “King’s Child” was released and a remix was done by Ricardo Villalobos which led to heavy attention around the globe. Wareika´s own remix work was cathcing also some attention. Their remix for Islandic super-band Gus Gus („Thin Ice“) ended up in an invitation to join their European tour. In 2010 their debut album “Formation” was released. It was time to conquer the „live“ world. Tokyo´s Unit went crazy, Paris Rex was burnin, Rome full of amore and Berlin´s Berghain was bouncing. In 2010 WAREIKA played 200 live gigs on almost every continent (sorry Australia) and played several big fesivals like Mutek, Melt!, Vision, Fusion, Trailerpark and Tribal Tech in Brazil.
After this intense experience Wareika recorded a one hour piece of music, cross-bordering musical genres and programming and playing. They called it Harmonie Park and Perlon Records released it in 2010.
After getting more and more remix jobs the trio decided to collect some of the best remixes they did during the last 3 years. They called their reworks „Per Aspera Ad Astra“ and this collection was released in fall 2011 on Connaisseur Recorrdings to illustrate their versatility as a remix and production team. Wareika´s latest release is called „Floors“ a fine 3 track EP on french label Circus Company. In late 2012 the trio will release another full length album....
