WAFA Biography
Originally hailing from Norwich, reborn in a dingy studio in West London, WAFA plays drums in the dark hours and makes wonky bangers for kids to dance to.
Having first met Sinden when they both DJ’d at Basement Jaxx’s Inside Out parties in Brixton, he sent him some tracks for feedback and was instantly signed up to make an EP. At the time WAFA was working as a session drummer for bands like Basement Jaxx, Lily Allen, Kano and Lady Sovereign, but had been honing his own sound, and being mentored by underground heroes Seiji and Landslide. ‘Ewid Disco’ released in June 2010 picked up heat from the upper echelons of the club world, having been picked up by Crookers for their Mixmag Covermount CD and hammered by Brodinski, Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw, Toddla T, Erol Alkan etc. Disco put through the blender with a Gameboy and a subwoofer, or as Grizzly kingpin Graeme Sinden puts it, “some kind of bastard italo track with crazy Super Mario Brothers bass lines. ”The track was also remixed by Trouble & Bass badboy Drop The Lime and Greco-Roman’s resident reptile Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. The fidgety B Side ‘Pop Up’ has also been remixed by Canblaster and got props from Gilles Peterson and SBTRKT .
Since the release of “Ewid Disco” WAFA has been busy working on more productions, remixes and DJing at clubs / Stealth , Killer Kitch, the KoolKids parties and Jamm. His second release “Choir Crunch / Deep All Star” has been picked up by Dave Spoon’s Television label, and is due for release imminently. A second 4 track EP from Grizzy is also due in the spring. 
WAFA has also been busy collaborating with Drop the Lime / Wolfie / RITON.
and Sinden plus working as a mixdown engineer for Toddla T. Sinden, Joe & Will and Gang Colours. Plus he still does the night job playing drums for Australian uber dance band Pnau and recording for Simon Ratcliffe’s (Basement Jaxx) new solo project.
