About
Vuk Lazar (AKA VukMaster) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and producer whose style combines House, Electro, Euro, Chill-out, Pop and R 'n' B. With bright melodies, dark basslines, emotional lyrics, and dynamic vocals, Vuk's sound is unmistakably his own, yet right at home in the modern radio and club scene. His original Dance productions and remixes resonate strongest with the styles of Kaskade, David Guetta, Tiesto, David Morales, and Enigma.
However, Vuk's most identifiable quality is his distinctive voice, his catchy melodies and rich, textured harmonies. In this, Vuk's style has been compared to Seal, Savage Garden, Chris Willis, Sam Sparro, and Justin Timberlake.
In 2009, 40-Cycle Radio selected Vuk's remix of The Crystal Method's "Come Back Clean" (featuring fellow Canadian Emily Haines) as one of the top 10 best tracks of the year out of 100s of tracks by mainstream and independent artists. Vuk has also remixed songs for Erik Truffaz, DUDE-aTOMic!, and Imogen Heap. Currently, Vuk is collaborating on several disparate projects as a producer and singer-songwriter with such talented artists as Bounce Bro (Germany), Hoochypapa (England), DJ Solid Clash (Portugal), Martin H (Norway), Ben Crea (Australia), and Filip Filipi (Canada).
Originally from Former Yugoslavia and of mixed European descent, Vuk was born in Belgrade on September 7, 1982 and arrived in Canada at the age of 10. Though he did not come from a musical family, instruments were always a part of the household. Since an early age, Vuk learned songs by ear and often spent long hours improvising and composing his own. It wasn't until senior year that his love of composition and sound engineering got a public audience. To great reception, and a regional award, he recorded an instrumental soundtrack for a high school stage production for which he was also a co-writer and leading actor. Ever since, music has been his main passion and pursuit.
Vuk is presently completing a Masters in molecular genetics at the University of Toronto. He also enjoys photography, design, dance, gymnastics, and is an accomplished black belt in Shotokan Karate.
