How does a low minimum wage effect other parts of our economy? Stand Up! Chicago, a coalition of community and labor organizations, just released a report on how minimum wage can effect the consumer economy in downtown Chicago. Stand Up! argues that at $15 minimum wage for service and retail workers would jump start $179 million in spending. Lead researcher Elizabeth Parisian and service worker Robert Wilson joined Morning AMp hosts Brian Babylon and Molly Adams this morning to discuss the effect of low minimum wages on the economy nationally and locally.
