About

Michael Yoo aka. DJ Young has been in love with music at a very young age. He was born in South Korea and moved to the states when he was just 11 years old. Before he moved to the states, at a very young age, he would often sing a traditional Korean songs in front of audiences. He was known to be very emotional and the lyrics of the songs often made him cry or smile. Although his not a good singer, he brought all the emotions out of him when he sang. People always said that Michael will become someone big, not because of his talent, but because he truly feels the music. In the late 80's, he started a record store called Beat City Records in Long Branch, NJ. He saw a need for a record store for DJ's in the area and through this business he met alot of local talents(some of which became worldwide recognized). His love of music eventually transformed Michael from a record shop owner to a DJ. He joined the largest and most respected record pool in NJ at that time(Ricketts Record Pool) and also started stocking imports at his record shop. His first gig as a DJ was at a gay club known as Club 12 in famous Asbury Park, NJ. This was after hours gay club and house music was introduced there. When other clubs were playing Dance, Top 40, Disco, and freestyle; Club 12 played progressive underground house music. This is where Michael's passion for the underground house music started. Michael went on to play many venues after this in NJ and often people would say; "They feel like they are in some club in NYC". Michael always was a front runner when new genre of music was introduced. Late 80's and early 90's saw the introduction of "Techno" and the "Rave Scene". Michael became the NJ's answer to this new music and started introducing Techno, Trance and sub genres in his sets. Wanting a venue where he can play this genre of music, he decided to open his own nightclub and the legendary Zone One was born. Zone One was packing in 800-900 people when the legal limit was only 450. This caused many problems with the city and it's fire code and eventually had to shut down. People today still remember Zone One and sometimes people are found wearing the promotional shirts that were given out 20 years ago. Michael dropped out of the scene when he moved to another state due to his other business but the love of music never left him and he would make bedroom mixes to play in his car. Now! he is back in NJ and producing music and founded KEC Records, KEG Records, and VIP Productions. Although he is new to producing, he is catching on fast and with his style of heavy drums and nice bassline, he is making music that people want to dance to in clubs. Michael is also looking for talents: singers, songwriters, and producers to collaborate with to release tracks under his label. Michael Yoo is available for worldwide booking! www.kecrecords.com, www.kegrecords.com, kecrecordings@gmail.com, vipmediaevents@gmail.com
