DJ Black Mamba got her first introduction to music at a very early age. She attended her first rock concert at the tender age of 3. She spent her childhood years bangin' on toy drums, spittin' into plastic microphones & poundin riffs on baby guitars. Around 1989, she was hittin' up the local rollerskating rinks with her teenage sisters. She was heavily surrounded by Nuwave, Freestyle jams & the early stages of underground Electro & House music. She was listening to everything from Depeche Mode, to Stevie B, to Enigma, Dynamix II and Debbie Deb. In the mid to late 90's she was hitting up rock & metal shows. As her teenage years pushed on, she slowly got into listening to techno & house music at the local ice skating rink. She started attending raves & club parties in 1999 and that's where the electronic seed was planted.. "I was rock metal head at the time then I was met some katz that were born into the Florida breaks scene around 1993. They got me into the whole electronic music scene and started taking me to underground parties & raves. From then on, I was hooked. I was so impressed by all the different genres of electronic music and was infatuated with the whole dj thing." She started doing promotions and bookings for various major party promoters, and clubs. In 2002, known then by 'The Matrix GirL', she got the itch to dj and decided to teach herself how to beat match in her bedroom. "I got my hands on some turntables & started bedroom djin'. I got the opportunity to watch so many unbelievably talented djs spin literally right in front of me. I was always into taking pictures and standing up on the stage getting right up in the DJ Booth action. I wanted to see what the dj was actually doing and look at what records they were spinning. I was mesmorized on how they used the mixer & see their selection of records." Black Mamba took her skills outside the bedroom and started spinning at local house parties. She got her first residency in 2002 at a local bar. Then in 2004, she got her first club residency @ the Lounge. "I thank my dj sensei for my kick start to being a dj. I owe it to Johnny Dangerously, a true breakbeat pioneer. He is supportive and had faith in me. I shadowed him there and let me test out my skills at his breaks weekly. Then he gave me a spot at his weekly residency. And we began rockin' out breakbeats and thats when I knew I wanted to continue to play out. I was addicted to vinyl." Black Mamba was djin' fridays & then started a Saturday weekly where she started spinning an ecletric mix of house, breaks, classic rock & metal. "My heart is in Metal, Rock & EDM, Period. I like to spin it all and be well rounded. I'm bored with sticking to just one genre. I love throwin down a rock choon and then bringing in a breakbeat, and scratching on it. I like makin an eclectric mix & making it sound good. It's my main passion. I'm an energetic, wild girl who loves to rock it tha f*ck out! I like to challenge myself. When I spin & get down and technical on the mixer. Isn't that what it's all about?"
Black Mamba has held a wide variety of residencies including hiphop, mashups, rock, electro, crunk, house, and booty breaks.
Her residencies vary from Ft Lauderdale, South Beach, West Palm Beach and Jupiter, Florida and New York.
