About
From the old west rises new rock...
Van Gogh Rescue's blend of post rock instrumentation and raw garage rock energy has given way to a powerful brand of music that may well be the missing link between Pink Floyd and Rage Against the Machine. Fronted by indefatigable B.J. Bunting, Tucson based Van Gogh Rescue puts on a show that demands the full attention of its audience. Bassist Ryan Cutshall lays down aggressive grooves that perfectly complement the rhythms of the hard hitting drummer, Geoff Whetstone. While his soaring riffs and psychedelic sound effects are perhaps the most distinguishing aspect of this quartet, Van Gogh Rescue's guitarist, Brad Sconzert, also sings backing vocal harmonies that draw proper attention to well crafted melodies.
The buzz created by Van Gogh Rescue has not gone unnoticed. In 2010, Van Gogh Rescue was nominated by the Tucson Weekly for "Best Up and Coming Artist" in the Tucson Area Music Awards (TAMMIES). Van Gogh Rescue made its live television debut on ABC affiliate KGUN 9's morning show "The Morning Blend" on July 19th, 2010. Tim Tompkins of ND Promotions claimed that "Van Gogh Rescue is the best band to come out of Tucson in the last two years!" In addition to competing as finalists in the 2010 Southern Arizona Acoustic Battle, Van Gogh Rescue gained vast exposure when they rocked the AVA Soundstage before a sold-out University of Arizona football game, entertaining more than 50,000 potential onlookers.
Van Gogh Rescue's self-produced album entitled "From The Top Of Your Lungs" features such contrasting songs as the huge, echo-filled guitars and vocals in "Farewell" to the punchy, syncopated riffs, rhythms, and choruses of "Our Final Sun". Co-Producer Fernando Rivas of OG7 studios calls the album a "prime example of what an album sounds like when spending the right amount of time on pre-production, production and post-production---and, of course, song writing!" "Lips And Lies" offers a well-produced pop-rock sound while "You Should Know By Now" gives listeners a sense of Van Gogh Rescue's progressive rock tendencies.
Expect to see Van Gogh Rescue at a venue near you throughout 2011 in support of their album "From The Top Of Your Lungs". Van Gogh Rescue will continue to champion the plight of the independent musician by working hard to earn an engaged base of fans while maintaining the musical integrity that inspired the band's inception. Though keenly aware that being in a band is hardly reinventing the wheel, Van Gogh Rescue strives to offer something others do not, something that is best to experience first hand.
