I released my first remix back in the year 2000, since then it's been 13 years on a non-stop roller coaster ride of electronic madness. I've traveledaround the world and DJ'd in some truly wonderful places. I've unleashed my electronic beats on cities like Sheffield, San Francisco, Berlin, Moscow, Seoul, Budapest, Perth, Tallinn, Shanghai, Amsterdam, St Petersburg, Melbourne, I've been lucky to play all over the place.
I've had some quality djs from all walks of electronic life play my releases, people like Adam Freeland, Plump DJs, Daddy G (Massive Attack), El Hornet (Pendulum), Umek, Pete Tong, Stanton Warriors. Even trance warriors Paul Van Dyke and Armin Van Buren have got in on the Vandal act at one stage. Bonkers.
I've been interviewed live on Radio 1 by Zane Lowe, very surreal. I've also been fortunate to have support from his fellow Radio 1 djs over the years like indie legend Steve Lamaq, Huw Stephens and Annie Nightingale.
I set up my own label Benefit Recordings back in Decenber 2009, in April 2011 we released our first compilation, 'One Year On Benefit'. That was a cool moment. Since then we've worked with all kinds of artists from Elite Force to Sven Woziak.
2012 I released the second comp, Two Years On Benefit.
2013 will see new Vandal music being released on labels like Fresh Pump, Diablo Loco and more on Benefit.
So there you have it, there's loads of other shit I could mention but this brief biog would turn into an essay and we wouldn't want that. The main thing is that after over a decade of producing beats, as well as managing to ignore pretty much all the various trends and wagons, I'm somehow still here making the beats and dropping the bombs.
There's hope for all nerds out there.
p.s. I've got an alter ego called Captain Magic who makes rowdy, minimal electro techno.
