U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, in a message recorded to her Southern Arizona constituents, says that she is getting better and is anxious to get back to work representing them.

“I’m getting stronger. I’m getting better,” the three-term congresswoman said in the message released today. The congresswoman also said, “I want to get back to work. Representing Arizona is my honor.”

The message, which lasts about a minute, was recorded last week in Houston, where Giffords has been undergoing rigorous rehabilitation therapy for 10 months. She was shot in the head on Jan. 8 while meeting with her constituents at a shopping center in Northwest Tucson. Six people were killed in the shooting and 12 others, in addition to Giffords, were wounded.

Since the congresswoman went to Houston for therapy, she has been kept updated by staff members about events in Congress and in her district. She has returned to Tucson twice so far for private family visits.

The recorded message initially was released to the Arizona Daily Star, the congresswoman’s hometown newspaper.

Your story is truly an ispiration. I understand from the ABC report that your first word during your recovery was "what." That was my daughter's first word. An entire nation is pulling for you.

Gabrielle, I got brain damage when I was six months old. I know what you must be going through. I believe I can help you recover faster. I have some tips and tricks doctors don't know from direct experience. Right now it is like your swimming threw thick waters to speak. That is what it felt like to me. Please email me at karn_46@hotmail.com I would really like to work with you. Karen

Gabrielle is a beacon for fortitude and determination; a public figure to admire and look-up to. I want to see her get back to work, too.
