UPSTAIRS RECORDINGS was formed in Vancouver, Canada in late 1999. It is run by long time friends and creative collaborators, Don Verbrilli and Buzz Rozwell. They believed that an opportunity existed to produce and release music that, while electronically based, yet not limited to the genre of electronic music, could defy easy categorization with songs that blossom and reward listeners with repeated plays over time. Upstairs has from its inception tried to bring something different, eclectic and hopefully indefinable to the musical landscape. This includes musicality, infectiousness, inventiveness and a respect for the intelligence of the listener.

Artists on the Upstairs Recordings roster currently include: The Verbrilli Sound, Telefuzz, Gel-Sol, Monta At Odds, New Channel, E.D. Swankz, Solus [Matt Coogan], Kids For Tomorrow, Drug Submarine, Buzz Rozwell.

The label roster is ever evolving and expanding. Upstairs Recordings also frequently collaborates with artists and DJs from other labels from around the world. Upstairs Recordings artists' tracks have been featured on many successful compilations over the years.

Upstairs artists appear live occasionally including several appearances at The Big Chill festival, UK [2003-2006] and a recent appearance at Festinho festival, UK in 2009.
