[bivouacrecording] Disc Karting

[Sounds of Shanghai] Recorded May 17, 2009. It was 10pm on a rainy Saturday and the boredom was reminiscent of the opening scene of 'The Cat In The Hat'. Luckily, the cat did pay me a visit and we went to Disc Kart. The venue was kind of hard to find in the dark but the Map on Unlike really helped alot. Even at this late in the night, the parking lot was full and though the venue was not packed, there were enough people to fill the 8 cars for each 8 minute round (70 RMB). The track has many turns and the cars are very fast- now I know where the taxi drivers come to practice before their shift!

This recording was taken while waiting for my turn. It opens with a car hitting the barrier followed by tire squeals and loud engines flying past me. It ends with the cars stopping in the pits and the engines stall to a stop.
